Can't Type, Working

Blog updates will be a little sparse this week.

I've got a huge pile of work both at work and at home.

Hopefully, I'll have some good news and photos to post soon.

Rewind

So, yesterday was my birthday.

Today, I'm going to the mall and Chili's.

Last night, I decided that Repose was a fun idea, but I really didn't like the design approach was taking. So it was scrapped. Instead, I'm building another Legacy-class ship. The Ouroboros. She's in perfect condition, stationed in the Caprica Expanse (a region of space that's actually in the gap between arms of the galaxy). She was stationed there as a refueling and rest stop. Later, a Slipstream Jump Gate was constructed near by. Subnovan technology was advanced to the point where it was no longer practical to refit the Ouroboros for active service, so she remains as a ship-based space station. A beacon of light for weary travelers.

In the Legacy, I've started working on some really neat detail features, one of which is a water fogger. Inspired by the brilliant set crew of Stargate Universe. They are currently attached to plasma transfer conduits, which have a cooling system that causes atmosphere near the junctions to rapidly condense and fall as cold water vapor. Its a nifty effect that should look even more spectacular when I start working with per-pixel lighting.

So, today, there will be no progress on any of the builds in SL, nor getting Syntax online. The good news is that the office is coming along nicely. Found some workstation desks that will work very nicely.

That's it for now.

Gloomy Day

Gloomy weather today.

This is where I work. We do Direct-to-Garment printing, Heat Applied Film Transfers, Embroidery, Screen Print, Business Cards, Vinyl Graphics, Promotional Items, and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm the Graphic Designer. I also do production work. In fact, right now I'm running full color transfers for T-shirts for a local Bar & Grill. Its a really fun place to work, a family owned and operated business (not my family, but feels like it anyway).

I'm also working on putting together the business' website at http://www.xpressyourself-murpy.com. Its a work in progress and will eventually have online ordering capabilities. Fortunately, we're busy enough that I rarely have time to sit down and code it. Unfortunately, it means that its taking too long to make. Catch-22.

Deshima Update 20091014

Meant to post this yesterday, but it was way too late to sit down and do a writeup. I needed my beauty sleep.

I did some work on the Seeker last night. Added a conference room similar to the one that used to be in the Citadel. Its much smaller, but serves the same overall purpose. Also, the hatch to access the Seeker can now be left open for visitors. Right now, only the conference room is accessible when the hatch is open. The bridge and starboard side room is still restricted.

I had to help my father yesterday with moving an engine hoist for fixing my Passat. This is why I didn't have much SL time last night and was only able to work on the Seeker. Hopefully, tonight will be different and I can do some more work on Repose.

Syntax Update 20091011

Syntax is hiding in its box... taunting me.

Progress on the room switch is... progressing. Got a few pieces of furniture moved and have started on some other sorting and cleanings. Nothing particularly exciting to report.

Figured you would want to actually see Syntax, however.

Avalonia Update 20091011

I finally built the slipstream vortex that connects the Jumpgates in Deshima and Caprica together.

Caprica's starsphere was moved up a bit, as well. I've started work on a new old space station in Caprica. It's currently being called Repose, as its basically a space rest stop. It will be for refueling, a quick nap, and a snack. Its in the Caprica Expanse... a region of space that has no star systems anywhere nearby. The design of the station is essentially pre-Citadel. Uses more primitive technology, but has the instantly recognizable hex-diamond plate as the primary building material.

I'll be spending an equal amount of time working on Repose as I will on Deshima and the Legacy.

Nothing worth reporting on the Syntax front. Still have some large furniture to move as well as standard household maintenance. I'm optimistically hoping to give myself a birthday present next weekend and have things moved around enough to set up the machine. We'll just have to see.

Nugget and Wolfie Fox Jr.

Nugget got a new friend today.  Wolfie Fox Jr.
Here you can see her in her car seat in the DeLorean.

She loves her foxy fox.

Legacy Update 20091010

Tonight, Ash and I worked out a new system for the Legacy that automatically shuts down the engine generators when collisions or physics in the region have been disabled.

This has the fun side-effect of shutting down pretty much everything onboard the Legacy.  Eventually, this will also cause wide-spread failures on Deshima as well.

Once I get Syntax (the new PC) online, I'll be able to start work on the new lighting systems for the Legacy.

Switching Over

Turns out Google wins again.
Moving from the "old" site to this one... attempting to import the old posts.

Why Not Self-Hosted?

As some people may be wondering, "why are you not hosting this on your servers?"...

The reason is quite simple.  I plan on using this as a fallback in the event I get DDoSed, Epic Power Failures, Upstream Issues, or Cats happen again.

In the event any of the websites I host are having major issues, people will be able to check this blog to see what the frak is going on.  I would prefer to self-host, as then I could subject you to even more google ads, but for now... it's WordPress.

3of9.com

After nearly 10 years, I now own 3of9.com.

I will ultimately be pointing it at this blog in the future.

Chronos' New Parts

Chronos

Yesterday, I ordered an oil filter, fuel filter, and new reverse light switch for Chronos (my DeLorean).

The fuel pump has been making a bit of racket lately, and we're hoping its just starving for fuel due to a clogged filter.  I've read that some of the aftermarket pumps are just noisy anyway.  I hope that's not the case.

She's due for an oil change, and I finally get to have my reverse lights working. Yay!

Parts should be here on the 13th.

Assimilation

Here it is.  My first actual, factual blog and first post.

Never thought the day would come that there would be enough people out there needing/wanting to know what I'm up to.  But, there is.

So, I'll be posting about news and events, maybe some photos if you're lucky.  For now, I'm still getting things setup and will have a redirect from the proper http://www.3of9.net address soon.  Also... I'm looking for a good theme right now, so things are bland and subject to change.
